ABOUT THE PROJECT
Reliable Contractors have been working on the TransPennine Route Upgrade (TRU West Alliance) since May 2022. This is a major, multi-billion-pound programme of railway improvements which will bring more frequent, faster, greener trains running on a better, cleaner and more reliable railway across the Pennines between Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds and York.
The route spans 70 miles, with 23 stations and nearly 30 level crossings, running over dozens of bridges and viaducts and passing through 6 miles of tunnels.
Reliable Contractors are proud to be working on the Huddersfield to Leeds section of the Project, which involves the following areas: Huddersfield, Deighton, Mirfield, Ravensthorpe, Dewsbury, Batley, Morley, Cottingley, and Leeds. Upgrades to the Huddersfield, Deighton, Mirfield, and Ravensthorpe, with the most significant change being the addition of a new station at Ravensthorpe alongside track doubling and electrification along this section of the Railway.
Huddersfield Station is a state-of-the-art, 5-floor facility constructed from 100 locally built cabins (10 x 3 metres each), designed to offer the best facilities for over 500 staff delivering this transformation railway upgrade.
All aspects of the Civil Engineering trades have been involved in this project. We have also had to be heavily involved with the investment and upskilling of the workforce to PTS Operatives, with it being a Rail Project.
We also placed the first Groundworker apprentice on the project, and we hope to follow this with starting further apprentices in the future.
We have been conducting health and safety toolbox talks regularly to protect our employees, our supply chain partners, and the public. We believe a safe and healthy workplace is also a happier, more motivated, and more efficient place for all parties concerned and is a strong differentiator for us as an employer supporting the best talent in the industry.
