Movember Campaign
Raising Awareness for Men’s Health
At Reliable Contractors, we recognize the importance of health and well-being, both on and off the job site. This ‘Movember’, we are proud to have launched a campaign aimed at raising awareness for men’s health issues, particularly prostate cancer. As a construction company, we understand that the health of our team is vital to our collective success and safety.
To kick off our initiative, we distributed 100 free PSA self-check tests in 2 weeks across all our major sites – Devenport Docks, High Speed Two, and the TransPennine Route Upgrade. These tests are crucial in early detection, allowing our employees to take proactive steps towards their health. To set an example, all our male Managers and Directors participated in the testing, leading the way for their teams and encouraging others to get involved.

Alongside this, we held informative toolbox talks on the subject across all our sites, ensuring that our team was well-informed and aware of the risks. Our Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Manager, Jon Street, played a significant role in our campaign by inviting a prostate cancer survivor to share his journey. His powerful testimony on symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment resonated deeply with our workforce, emphasizing the importance of early detection and open discussions about health. The response has been inspiring, with many of our male employees growing Mustaches to support the Movember charity, raising both funds and awareness. Our female employees added a playful touch by taking comedic photos with fake Mustaches to kick off our fundraising efforts. This creative approach not only highlights the importance of the cause but also strengthens team spirit, bringing everyone together with the shared goal of promoting health awareness.
