Breast Cancer Awareness
On site Awareness Campaign
Our Labour Manager, Georgia Pritchard, welcomed her friend Nia Buzzard, a breast cancer survivor, to the Eiffage Kier Ferrovial BAM (EKFB) section of the HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd project to speak with our teams about breast cancer awareness, specifically aimed at men. While breast cancer is widely associated with women, many people do not realise that men are also at risk and that diagnoses in men often occur at a late stage simply because they do not know to check.
Nia briefed office staff and site operatives across Greatworth Green Tunnel and A423 Southam on G2S and visited the site to reach those who could not attend in the compound. A few weeks later she progressed the campaign by returning to site at TG2 and A43 alongside Nia where they delivered further toolbox talks and provided additional guidance on self-checking. The sessions received excellent feedback and prompted meaningful conversations beyond the workplace.

One Site Manager’s Wife shared that when he returned home after attending the toolbox talk, he immediately explained and demonstrated how he should check himself. This was a particularly positive outcome as encouraging open discussion shows that the message is being understood, shared, and reinforced. Following her experience raising awareness with us, Nia has decided to take steps towards establishing a charity through which she plans to deliver similar talks across male-dominated industries. She aims to continue raising awareness of this vital issue and encouraging open conversations in workplaces where it is most needed. We fully support Nia in this endeavour and commend her commitment to driving positive and lasting change.
