Neil Hopkins

Before joining the HS2 project as an apprentice through Reliable Contractors, Neil spent eight years in warehouse management at DHL. He was seeking a career change and, through a friend’s recommendation, was excited when the opportunity to be part of HS2 arose through Reliable Contractors, allowing him to learn new skills in a more ‘hands-on’ role.

He is currently enjoying completing his Level 3 MVQ in Welding and Fabrication and hopes to move up through the company. In recognition of his hard work, Neil has been shortlisted for the HS2 Inspiration Awards for apprentice of the year.

His labour Manager Eddie McGuire adds “Ever since Neil has started with us as part of the Mechanical & Electrical workshop on BBV he has shown nothing but interest and passion for the field, he has very quickly grown his knowledge and skill set, fully integrated with the team he works with and now plays a key inspirational role for the other apprentices looking to follow in his footsteps. Whilst it might be considered that Neil made the sidestep in his career a tad later than most, the rate of his progression puts him on course to have a very prosperous and fulfilling career.”
