Callum Davies

Callum, a 17-year-old from Birmingham, started in July 2024 as a groundworker apprentice working on the Transpennine Route Upgrade through Reliable Contractors and has since led onto a NVQ Level2 shuttering, carpentry, and steel-fixing course.

His training takes place at the Skills Village in Scarborough. To pursue this opportunity, Callum has had to live away from home. Prior to joining the TRU project, he worked in recruitment but wanted a more hands-on career. Reflecting on his experience, he shared, “I’m really enjoying learning from others on site, and I feel like I’ve gained so many new skills since starting.”

He has been doing an exceptional job with us at Reliable Contractors and earned one of our monthly reward and recognition awards for his dedication and commitment. Additionally, he has actively engaged with the local community, attending primary schools alongside his labour manager, Joanne Stones, to share insights about the world of apprenticeships and the exciting career paths they offer alongside answering any questions the students may have about working in the industry. We’re glad to have him on our team and look forward to the promising career that lies ahead for him.
