Reliable Training
& Development

We provide top quality, highly skilled labour
resources on projects within the civils, rail and
tunnelling industries.

Training & Development

All of our operatives are directly employed by Reliable Contractors Limited PAYE. The ongoing training and development of our staff is what sets us apart from our competition and what has positioned us as the leading contingency labour supplier for major infrastructure projects to date.

Over a number of years, we have offered a variety of apprenticeship frameworks to our workforce, however, the introduction of the new apprenticeship funding system in 2017 has marked a significant change in both process and delivery of the Apprenticeship model.

In order to contribute effectively to the Government’s plan to generate an additional 3 million new apprenticeships by 2020, we have formed an alliance with an approved apprenticeship training provider who are supporting our recruitment of new apprentices and offering unique on-site training to develop the skills of our existing staff.

The Training Process

Training gives everyone the knowledge and skills needed to work safely and without risk to health. We believe it is our responsibility to give every company employee training appropriate to the job for which they have been employed.

Reliable work closely with our clients to help identify specific training needs. Reliable deliver various nationally recognised City and Guilds training programmes, not only to our own employees, but to any personnel in line with site requirements.

We are committed to the training and development of all our employees and offer an extensive range of formal and informal training programmes.

We believe it is financially expedient to employ staff already holding cards or licenses appropriate to our operations, but it is also beneficial to the training and development of our existing staff to register them for HSE testing and CSCS/CPCS training and carding.

Our training matrix allows us to identify skills’ requirements and potential shortages relevant to given projects. We discuss labour projections in advance with your project teams to allow us to prepare and upskill to cover for any skills shortages.

We offer our employees a platform of formal and informal training:

  • Formal training will include induction training, any specialist or legislative training required for the operation of plant and/or systems of work.
  • Informal training will take the form of news briefings and toolbox talks to ensure that staff members are conversant with relevant work processes and methods.

All site training involves an element of HSE awareness and ensures that the demands of the job do not exceed their ability to carry out their work without risk to themselves or others.

Contract Manager’s

Our Contract Managers are unique to us and provide an essential role in the successful integration and ongoing training of our workers.

They are fundamental communicators whose key goals are to develop open and honest relationships with site teams. Our Tier 1 Contractors are introduced at the earliest opportunity to our Contract Managers and they can then discuss opportunities where they can work together seamlessly and ensure that our workers are immersed in the true culture of their working environment.

All training carried out by our Contract Managers on site is nationally recognised City & Guilds accredited. This is one of our key differentiators as others generally offer un-recognised ‘in house’ generic training modules.
