Hinkley Point C Site preparation

Reliable opened a satellite office in August 2016 in the South West region to support the onboarding of local and national labour for site preparation works involved in the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station in Somerset. All our candidates undergo a thorough ‘Candidate Vetting’ process including ‘Disclosure Scotland’ to comply with EDF regulations and we have been working alongside Hinkley’s stringent administration team guidelines documenting any additional training required in advance of HPC Induction. The enabling works will create 600 construction jobs - including a significant amount of local employment - and involve the excavation of over 5.5 million cubic metres of material, large scale earthworks, complex terracing structures and the creation of an expansive road network. Reliable Contractors are currently supplying a range of Civils Operatives, Plant Operatives and Supervisors. In addition, we are sourcing local labour to work through various job centres and we have over sixteen apprentices working towards their Level 2 NVQ in Construction & Operations. On site, our operatives are working on Earthworks, Drainage, Sea Wall Works and Ground Stabilisation, whilst our foremen are overseeing all aspects of the project.
Our Slinger/Signallers, Tractor Drivers and Concrete Pump Operators are all CPCS trained and we continually participate in safety inspections and initiatives, engaging the workforce in briefings, toolbox talks and any necessary ongoing training. All our staff skills are developed in line with specific skills shortages on site. Main construction works will see up to 6,000 people work on site over the course of the project and the Hinkley Point C power station is set to generate about six per cent of the UK's electricity - all of which will be low carbon - enough to serve around five million homes.
